Volunteer Opportunity – Minneapolis Crisis Nursery

Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery works to end child abuse and neglect and create strong, healthy families. The Crisis Nursery supports families in crisis 24 hours a day, 365 days a year through free, voluntary services.

Enrichment Activities for Kids

Individuals and small teams up to 3 people lead a preplanned enrichment activity for the children in our care. That activity can be arts and crafts, music, games, sports, puppetry, reading, theme boxes, etc. This activity is to be one hour long, engaging and age appropriate for ages 2-6 years of age.

GMCN provides the following resources anything above and beyond the volunteer will be responsible for bringing: crayons, markers, colored paper, paint, glues, scissors, books, theme boxes, and some board games.

Creative Snacks for Kids

Teams prepare a snack for approximately 25-30. Teams can prepare snack ahead of time and sit and eat snack with the kids or teams can prepare snack with the children and eat snack with the kids. Water is served for beverage at all snack times.

Groups of 4-6 members plan the snack, purchase groceries, cook, serve, and cleanup at the Nursery. Food must be cooked on-site, or purchased already prepared (ex: bakery, deli)

Cook for Kids

Teams cook for approximately 25-30 adult portions. Teams provide Food & Beverage only. Groups of 4-6 members plan the meal, purchase groceries, cook, serve, and cleanup at the Nursery. Food must be cooked on-site, or purchased already prepared (ex: deli food).

Meal grid is provided for lunch and dinner to ensure rotation of Entrée (beef, chicken, pork, etc). There is no meal
grid for Breakfast, we just request teams do not make bacon.
