The City of Mpls/Neighborhood & Community Relations Dept will be hosting its first annual Communtiy Connections Conference Saturday February 11th, 2012. The
Overall Purpose of Community Connections Conferences; The City of Minneapolis’ Neighborhood and Community Relations department sees value in gathering neighborhoods on an annual basis to discuss broader neighborhood and city goals, objectives and opportunities. Such a summit will provide a forum to support broader discussions and alignment between neighborhoods, the City and other community.

We are seeking the expertise of your “It’s time to Talk” facilitators during a working lunch format for this first time conference.

We just wanted to send a note of abundant thanks and good wishes to The LEAD Project! We were most fortunate to participate in the PhilanthroFair II in October 2010, and from that we, indeed, got connected with several new young professional volunteers who have been a huge help to us—using their legal, graphic design, project organizing, communications, and other key skill sets to benefit our small non-profit!

Reach Out and Read partners with pediatrics and family medicine clinics, serving disadvantaged communities, to promote the importance of parent-child “book-sharing” and story-telling, starting in the infant and toddler years, a period of critically important brain development for young children. Every child goes home from his or her check-up visit with a new book, along with tips for parents on developmentally appropriate ways to read aloud. Despite the tough economy, we are going strong as we enter our new fiscal year, thanks in large part to the help we have received from The LEAD Project! Keep an eye out for our Fall 2011 Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast Event, and if there are volunteers interested in joining our event committee—please zap us an email!

I recently submitted our organization’s information to LEAD but am not sure what happens next. We would have loved to have been included in PhilanthroFair but were not selected. Can you tell me if there is something we can do or more information we can provide that would enhance our chances of being included in the next PhilanthroFair?
Also, besides this event, are there any other opportunities for Vail Place to partner with LEAD?
