Harvest Happy Hour

Please join LEAD at an upcoming Happy Hour and networking event this month to celebrate the fall season.

A portion of all tickets purchased for the Harvest Happy Hour will benefit the Twin Cities Hunger Initiative, a coalition of nonprofit, business and government all working together to end hunger in the metro area.

Stop by for great company, delicious food and support a great local collaborative in their efforts to ensure no one goes hungry in our community.

The first 30 people to register will receive a ticket for a free drink.

In addition to the delicious hors d’oeuvres being served, there will also be a silent auction with some great prizes, including:

If you’re interested in learning more about what it takes to be a successful board member, consider attending the 60-minute Board Boot Camp prior to PhilanthroFair. The PhilanthroFair Board Boot Camp is great for anyone who is curious about becoming a board member and wants to know the right questions to ask nonprofits at LEAD’s PhilanthroFair. In this in-depth training, participants will learn:

Board member roles and responsibilities
Skills that translate well to serving on a board
Common pitfalls that can come to boards
What young professionals can gain from board service

The LEAD Project is excited to announce its first charitable event of 2011!

From LEAD with Love: A Benefit for Children’s HeartLink promises to be an exciting event featuring an open bar and unique experiences available for auction.

All event proceeds will benefit Children’s HeartLink, an organization working in partnership with health care centers in underserved regions of the world to promote sustainable cardiac care for children with congenital or acquired heart disease.

During this hour long training session you will learn what roles and responsibilities will be required of you as a board member, what questions to ask when seeking a position and how to find a position that truly fits your skills and areas of interest.

Hosted by BringMeTheNews, Candidate Conversation is a live, interactive debate between Minnesota gubernatorial candidates Mark Dayton, Tom Emmer and Tom Horner. The LEAD Project is proud to partner with Citizens League to bring this exciting event to young professionals in the Twin Cities.

The program will be produced as a unique conversation-style debate, moderated by Rick Kupchella, where Minnesotans can participate in an interactive question and answer session through BringMeTheNews’ social networks by using the event hashtag #debateMN.

The BOOM Benefit

The BOOM Benefit promises to be an exciting night of fireworks and fun. Enjoy a spectacular river front view of the Mississippi River during the Aquatennial Fireworks show presented by Target.

All event proceeds will benefit The Smile Network International, an organization that funds surgical missions and provides necessary supplies needed to repair birth defects. The surgeries are free of charge and are available to children who would otherwise go untreated.

LEAD’s goal for The Boom Benefit is to raise enough funds to improve the lives of eight children in need.

Over 130 young professionals invested their time at a 30-minute PhilanthroFair Mini Board Bootcamp in order to learn what it takes to be a nonprofit board member or volunteer. After the bootcamp, attendees met with nonprofit representatives from LEAD, Smile Network, Women’s Advocates, Bolder Options, Youth Venture, Give Us Wings, Women Venture, Finnegans Community Fund, and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. All nonprofits featured skills-based volunteer, advisory board, and board of director opportunities for young professionals. Host Committee Happy Hour

The LEAD Project officially announced the details of its next event and launched its website, which has been under construction for the past few months. This was a small gathering at OM that consisted of April’s event host committee, LEAD’s board of directors, and the Martin Ashal web team. It was a way to share what LEAD’s been working on as “LEAD 2.0″ and to celebrate the completion of LEAD’s new website. METRO’s Fashion Fight Night 4

A packed house of over 600 fashionistas gathered at the Uppercut Boxing Gym to watch six teams of photographers and models compete in the world’s only head to head fashion photography shootout. This was an event sponsored by Metro Magazine and 10% of proceeds benefitted The LEAD Project.

Holiday Ball – Benefit for Children’s Dental Services

With oversized glittering snowflakes hanging from the ceiling, nearly 400 young professionals in cocktail attire gathered to raise funds and awareness about Children’s Dental Services, a 90-year-old nonprofit that provides oral health care to children from low-income families statewide.

Former Sen. Norm Coleman attended and addressed the crowd, declaring, “in this community, we’re blessed to have a group that’s so involved.”

LEAD’s Green Party

Over 400 attendees enjoyed the spectacular views from the Metropolitan Club at Target Field! The LEAD Project proudly hosted a benefit for Great River Greening.

Great River Greening is an organization that leads and inspires community-based restoration of natural areas and open spaces. Its restoration efforts help preserve natural areas, protect clean air and water, and increase urban residents’ access to natural areas and sustainable open space.
